There’s something special about more than 50 of Guelph’s finest restaurateurs, caterers, vintners and brewers, coming together under one tent to offer one-bite samples of their delectable food and drink creations to more than 600 guests!
We were proud to partner with our friends at Drumlin Farm and feature a smoked chantecler chicken tostada with sweet corn and heirloom tomato ceviche at this year’s event. We helped harvest the ingredients just days before the event and smoked the chantecler chickens, on the farm.
Our initial one-bite sample changed a few times over the past month. It’s sometimes hard to predict what crop will be ready to harvest, in quantity for an event like this. Sourcing directly from a farmer has challenged us to be flexible with our food creations and offered a great perspective of what food is at it’s peak on the farm from week to week.
We truly value the relationship we’ve established with Drumlin Farm and thank the whole team for their continued support. In all honesty, how can we resist an opportunity to source food just days or event the morning of an event? We know you’ll agree the food just tastes better!
What if a particular food items you were hoping to source was unavailable that particular day at the market? We think these instances bring adaptability and variety to our diet and life. They give us an opportunity to appreciate new flavors and food experiences.
Congratulations to everyone who was a part of Taste of Guelph 2013! It was truly, a special experience.
